Ohio University Journal

The inspiration for the cover of this journal came from the idea of looking at the brick paths as a textured pattern within the bricks at Ohio University. The design depicts the texture as a screen of circles in the shape of a brick. These circles are used to allow the viewer to begin thinking about the textures in bricks in a different way. The colors were chosen to avoid a direct representation of bricks. By seeing them in colors abnormal to traditional bricks, the viewer can pay more attention to the texture. The worn out paths on OU's campus show the history of Ohio University as well as that of Athens. Likewise, the design of this cover has broken, cracked, and missing bricks to depict such history.
